| What's the difference between these two coolants? besides the color of the bottles? Ah, what about the liquid being poured into the radiator right thru' the center of the labels!? I have been using the yellow bottle (green liquid) all alone until half-a-year (or maybe more) ago. I was in Target and there were no yellow bottles on the shelves. In a hurry, I took a silver bottle (pink liquid - I didn't even notice at that time) and paid for it. It sat in the garage all this time until about two weeks ago when I needed to add coolant to our old Celica. It took half the bottle. Then I forget about it until when I get the car back from the shop with a new engine! The mechanic said, "There were no signs of overheating. Did you put DEX-COOL into the radiator? I found red liquid (coolant + oil) in the old engine. The head gasket probably was 'burn' (dissolved?) by the wrong coolant!" His finding matches with what happened that morning... Nate drove only seven blocks from the house and it blew up, white smoke went out the tail pipe! The engine couldn't possibly be overheated in that short time! Aye-yeh! The fine prints on the silver bottle says, "... for use in all GM vehicles that require DEX-COOL coolant, as well as all other cars... with aluminum radiators. ... approved by General Motors ... will provide the following benefits..." Benefits to GM cars, you mean! not Toyota, nor Honda, nor Dodge, or even Ford for that matter! | | |
